The most common Fischer-Tropsch catalyst are transition metals. In this research, iron catalyst synthesized using a variety supported materials with different surface area such as SiO2, Al2O3 and MOF UiO-66. MOF (Metal Organic Frameworks) are crystalline compounds consisting of metal ions with linkers organic ligand to form frameworks. Surface area MOF are very high is expected to be the best supported material for dispersing iron active site. Silica and alumina used is a commercial. Zirconium-based MOF (UiO-66) was synthesized by reacting ZrCl4 as a source of metal ions with 1,4-benzendicarboxylic acid as organic ligands using solvent dimethylformamide. SiO2, Al2O3 dan MOF UiO-66 were characterized using spectrophometry IR, TGA (Thermal Gravimetric Analysis), XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and N2 physisorption. Thermogram showed weight reduction which represented evaporation of water (120°C), decomposition solvent (150-400°C) and decomposition 1,4- benzenedicarboxylic acid in MOF (480-600°C). The diffraction pattern of the SiO2 and Al2O3 showes the materials is amorphous and MOF are crystalline. SiO2 has BET surface area of 225 m2/g, Al2O3 183 m2/g and MOF UiO-66 1106 m2/g. Catalysts synthesized by impregnation of 5% w/v solution of iron from iron nitrate and calcined. MOF calcinated with variation temperature in 200oC, 300oC and 400oC. The optimum results were obtained at a temperature 300oC. Infra-red spectra after impegnation showed a wave numbers shift into smaller. Diffractogram showed that impregnation resulted no significant changes on the structure. However, specific peaks of Fe2O3 were shown at 33,42° and 35,65°. BET surface area silica, alumina and MOF UiO-66 amounted to 196 m2/g, 165 m2/g and 590 m2/g. Reduction of surface area was due to attachment of iron oxide on pore surface of supported materials. It concluded, MOF UiO-66 is the best supported material for dispersing iron oxide particles seen from the amount of reduction surface area. text |
