Modification of Carbon Paste Electrode with Molecularly Imprinted Poly(o-aminophenol) for Voltammetric Determination of Uric Acid

Uric acid (2,6,8-trioxypurine) was the final product of purine base metabolism in the human body. The abnormal concentration of uric acid leads to several diseases such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, hyperuricemia, leukemia, and phneumonia. Determination of uric acid in urine can be performed using severa...

The abnormal concentration of uric acid leads to several diseases such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, hyperuricemia, leukemia, and phneumonia. Determination of uric acid in urine can be performed using several methods such as enzymatic, chromatoghraphy, HPLC, and voltammetry. In this research, a square wave voltammetry technique for determination of uric acid has been developed using carbon paste electrode modified of poly(o-aminophenol) as working electrode. Carbon paste electrode was modified through electropolymerization of o-aminophenol from solution containing mixture of o-aminophenol and uric acid in phosphate buffer solution pH 7. The electropolymerization was conducted using cyclic voltammetry technique in potential range of -0.2 V - 1,0 V at a scan rate of 50 mV s-1 for 15 cycles. Calibration curve of uric acid has a good linearity in the concentration range of 0,01 mM - 0,10 mM with detection limit of 6,03 ?M. Determination of uric acid in urine showed accurate results with percent recovery of 92% - 108%. text
