Decolorization of aqueous solutions containing an azo dye (Remazol Red B) was achieved by advanced oxidative process using Fenton reagent. The optimum amounts of Fenton reagent was 1,25 mg/L of Fe2+ and 25 mg/L of H2O2 for an initial Remazol Red B at 83 mg/L. The ratio of H2O2/Fe2+ equal to 20 to give the best result for the decolorization efficiency. The optimum conditions of Fenton reaction obtained at pH 3 and a temperature of 300 K and the decolorization efficiency of Remazol Red B attained 100% for 55 min reaction time. Kinetics decolorization of Remazol Red B followed second-order reaction. Metal ions i.e. Cu2+, Pb2+ and Zn 2+ did not affect the process of degradation reactions in Fenton. text |
