INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/32632 This research is conducted in Indramayu Regency, with coordinates on 108o 0’ 0” east longitude – 108o 30’ 0” east longitude and -6o 12’ 00” south latitude – -6o 40’ 00” south latitude. The research area consists of Quaternary sediments. The purposes of this research are to determine engineering properties and liquefaction characteristics of these Quaternary sediments. The methods used in this research are depositional facies analysis, susceptibility of liquefaction analysis, and initiation of liquefaction analysis. Depositional facies analysis consists of describing core and observing the CPTu graph to determine the type of sediment in research area. Susceptibility of liquefaction analysis and initiation of liquefaction analysis consists of laboratory test and field test to determine liquefaction potential in research area. Based on deposition of facies analysis, Quaternary sediments in research area consist of delta plain clay, prodelta clay, delta plain sandy clay, delta front sandy clay, delta plain sand and beach ridge sand. The plasticitiy of fine-grained Quaternary sediments in research area is quite high, with the exception in some SPT testing areas near surface of the ground. The relative density of sand in research area is considered as very loose – very dense. The consistency of sandy clay in research area is considered as very soft – medium, while the consistency of clay in research area is considered as very soft – hard. Liquefaction potential uses earthquake scenario with magnitude of 7.5 ???????? and peak ground acceleration (PGA) of 0.15 g. Quaternary sediments in research area which have liquefaction potential are beach ridge sand deposit, delta plain sand deposit and delta front sandy clay deposit near the surface and below water table, exactly at the depth of 2 – 8 m. text
