Although there are already many of lodging facilities in Tretes, none of them are providing wellness facilities and reflect local culture. Tretes Resort and Spa is a design project that created due to these conditions. The Spa is chosen as the main facility to give uniqueness of the design project. The project is located on 5 Ha contoured site that bordered by a tropical rainforest. Tretes Resort and Spa consists of lodging, lobby, service, and recreation facilities. The amount of the lodging facility is 24 Villas, namely, two bedroom villas with pool, one bedroom villas with pool, honeymoon villas, and standard villas. The spa facility on the project offers Javanese traditional spa menus which can be enjoyed by couples or individuals. The concept of the design project is based on four main issues, namely, the image of local architecture, ambience, privacy, and site potentials. Javanese architecture, and the layout of the building mass that responds to the site views become the main concept that answering the design issues. Javanese architecture concept applied on Sanga Mandala philosophy aspect that used as site zoning and Wood building construction. The lobby and recreation building are using traditional Javanese building transformation, while the lodging buildings are using bricks as facade, Majapahit pakuwon, and elevated floor concept to build Javanese architecture ambience. text |
