Description
Summary:An effective and environmentally friendly transportation is needed due to the increment of Indonesian population. Railway transportation system is mass transportation which is being drafted by Indonesian government to increase the quality of its service. The operational system of railway transportation need inputs such as electricity, water, freon and fuel. While the outputs are waste water, air emissions and solid waste. All inputs and outputs can be assessed using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method based on ISO 14040. LCA activities consist of goal setting, Life Cycle Inventory (LCI), Life Cycle Assessment Impact (LCIA) and data interpretation. This paper discus about gate to gate, 12 stops in Bandung raya, LCA railway transportation. Characterization methods used are ILCD, Recipe and CML. The functional unit used is per passenger per kilometer. The valuated impact categories to weighting are global warming potential (Global Warming Potential), Acidification Potential, Water Use, Land Use and Eutrophication Potential potential. The result shows that GWP value of 90%, EP land 6% and AP 4%. From the results of the GWP it is known that the largest gas contributor, which is 68%, is CO2 due to electricity consumption at the Station. The wighting value shows that local train contribute the biggest emission than other type of train. Economic analysis shows that environmental cost is not bigger than tikect price. While using solar panel is preferable option to reduce GWP.
