Summary: | Universities in running educational programs is basically relied on financial resources from the government. The regulation of of Indonesia’s government now has allowed legal established university to earn and manage their financial source aside from government budget. Endowment funds at universities is utilized as one of the funding that can support programs and activities for both academic and non-academic. In doing the investment of endowment fund, BPUDL is certainly demanded to give a good and profitable investment management. The obstacles faced by ITB in managing endowment fund consisted of several factors such as endowment funds not in a large and optimal number, unintegrated donating alumni and the absence of a special investment team formed professionally to manage investment funds.
This study aims to find a proposed alternative that can be implemented in the current BPUDL business model to achieve more optimal investment goals both in terms of obtaining donations and from endowment fund management and social impact on the education system. Using a qualitative approach, data taken based on interviews with BPUDL ITB to depicted current business model and secondary data obtained from observing websites, journals, books, articles to give the comparation of other institution in managing their endowment fund and the concept of digital social business today.
This research resulted in a proposed alternative in managing endowment funds by transforming existing business models. It will be utilizing website channels as delivered channel to the donors. Investment allocation can be changed after a significant amount of endowment fund attained that is by reducing fixed income, increase equity and alternative asset to attain a better investment performance. The management of endowment fund is directed by appointing a special investment team and using support from students in managing investments. |
