Transportations become something that affects for developing economic activities in a certain area. As an archipelago state, Indonesia needs transportation mode to connect one area to another. Air mode transportation is known being able to affect an area’s development. Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport has been being over capacity and is needed expansions to accommodate its amount of increasing passenger. The data collection method that is chosen is collecting secondary data to the related parties like Ministry of Transportation and PT. Angkasa Pura II (Persero). The issues in designing the airport that needs to be done includes; circulation, safety and security inside the terminal, the airport’s flexibility for the expansion, the building’s reaction to climate and environment, also to create impression and image of Jambi. The design approach that is used to design Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport is functional approach and a great airport serving which will lead to great concept design that prioritize efficiency, comfort and passenger’s impression which is “Friendly Airport”.
