Summary:Bandung City inhabitants dominated by low-income people with no ability to buy a single home in the middle of city (urban area). They have to make decision to buy a ‘home’ at suburban area with inproper condition and no security of tenure. These phenomena were responded by the government with social housing project with rented system (in Indonesia called ‘Rusunawa’) and Bandung has the first project in Cingised social housing. In this project, Cingised social housing was chosen to create a social housing development project in Bandung area to cutting down the uncontrolled increasing inhabitant density. This project located at the backside of Cingised social housing with wet rice field as existing condition and surrounded by landed housing. As social housing project, this site will add by some functions such as home facility, human development area, manager area, services, and public area especially for the visitors. All the facilities refer to government regulation for social housing. For the project social housing, like the same project in Indonesia, there are some problems that how to create a comfortable housing for low-income people, adopt the interaction activities from the landed housing to vertical housing, and to increase inhabitant productivity. Based on these problems, concept proposal for this project are designing flexible home with natural lighting dan ventilating system, functional and attractive communal space for children-playing space and communal wash-to-dry space, and courses and commercial space. These concepts should be an alternative solution to make a high quality living for low-income people and to solve problems for social housing projects in Indonesia.
