But this phenomenone was not followed by the tipology ability to adapt with tropical climate in Indonesia. In results, there are plenty of problems appear, such as excessive enery consumption, especially for air conditioning and light, thus can results on increasing spoiled environment . This phenomenone is the program background for this case study design. The concept of the design will apply the rules of architecture in tropical climate such as maximizing natural ventilation, building mass orientation, use of light weight material, et cetera. The main problem to this project is to maximizing natural ventilation in residential unit by applying the concept of mass thermal, night cooling, surface cooling, and cross ventilation. Air conditioning based on natural ventilation in this 30th stories apartment building will be applied by controling the rate and presure of air. The air pressure around the area will be controlled by setting the thickness of the building into minimum and makes holes in the building mass to controll the air pressure in the building envelope, also making the building corner curved (aerodinamic) so the building can make a way for air to circulate indoor and outdoor around it. This purpose of this project is to be one example for designing a vertical residential which use tropical architecture principal. text
