Summary:Generation-Y nowdays dominates Indonesian economic market. This condition makes mall typology in Jakarta grow rapidly. The newest type of mall preferred by people is called by lifestyle center and it have characteristics: open-plan concept, the old-shopping ambience, and multi-purpose-leisure-time. Ratu Plaza nowdays is too old-fashioned compared to other surrounding malls. That situation make the background why Ratu Plaza must be developed to keep its existence in the middle of malls competition in Jakarta. This lifestyle center project is located at Jenderal Sudirman Street, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The total area of building floor as big as 27,600 square meter in 6,900 square meter site’s area. It is decided to split this project building floor area into two different typologies: lifestyle center and office but this final project focuses on lifestyle center development. The main problem of this project is choosing specific function that does not exist in any other surrounding malls as attractiveness to compete with other surrounding malls. For that sake, an artificial park inside the building and outstanding building form used to be the main concept of whole building design. Curvalinear form is applied for building’s faces nad interiors to make contrast ambience from surroundings. Shape to appear is also integrated to the existing of Ratu Plaza that have dominan horizontal line. Ratu Plaza also accommodate other function such as food and beverages, recreation, entertainment, hobbies and lifestyle to lift Ratu Plaza complex attractiveness. Designing a different unique experience and ambience is one of way to make this building attractive. The whole building is divided vertically into lower zone and upper zone that have different characteristics. The lower zone have close-plan, clean and modern concept that use more of artificial lighting and air conditioning. The upper zone itself have open-plan and natural concept. The difference between the two zones give building visitors a unique experience while exploring every building stories. Atrium is also designed to connect and integrate the two zones and gives luxury ambience to the building.
