Description
Summary:Increasing the need for access to decent sanitation in developing countries is very urgent, this is especially the case in residential areas that continue to experience population density and influence existing sanitation problems. The Indonesian government is determined to improve the situation by launching a target of 100% universal sanitation access and eliminating slums in 2019. Nonetheless, it is estimated that only less than 2% of the national and regional budget is allocated for this, this limited government budget encourages various alternative development projects in Indonesia. One of the efforts made by the Manado Government is to explore the colorful village project in Sindulang village, this project is one of the efforts to improve the visual appearance of slums, which is then expected to also have an impact on the sanitation behavior of the community. This study aims to investigate the significant impact of visual improvements made on the sanitation behavior of its citizens, as well as identify the components that influence the success and sustainability of the project. To see the relationship between visual changes to sanitation behavior, a questionnaire was designed based on Theory of planned behavior with independent variabels: attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior control and the dependent variabel was the behavior of wastewater and waste management behavior. With margin of error 0.05 and confidence interval 95%, then analyzed using the Path analysis method. From this study, the correlation coefficient of village staining was obtained for 0.311 for the behavior of domestic wastewater management and 0.538 for the behavior of waste management, these results indicate that visual change significantly affects the sanitation behavior of the community.
