connectivity/ accessibility, lack of physical space and attractiveness in the downtown area. These conditions continued during the past few decades. According to that facts, revitalization is urgently needed to improve Bandung’s downtown life quality. The focus of this thesis is to formulate a revitalization strategy for the downtown area. The revitalization started from the micro sphere of urban space (Palaguna) as an effort to improve downtown life quality in general. In this thesis the downtown revitalization includes revitalization of Palaguna and surrounding areas. Revitalization of Palaguna and surroundings are proposed on aspects mentioned below: connectivity and livability of downtown urban area. Connectivity focused on the quality of connectedness of circulation (especially pedestrian path), the circulation between building linkage, the circulation between different blocks of urban area, and the distribution of public transport transit point. Meanwhile, livability focused on the quality of physical space in the downtown area including the success of a public space, the physical space and building character, the availability of a wide range facilities, and quality of citizen’s activities that form in the downtown area. Based on the current state, the decrease of Bandung’s downtown quality are due to these three major issues: - lack of connectivity of urban space, - lack of completeness of daily facilities, - and lack of physical character of urban space. Based on those conditions, the revitalization focused to solve each of the 3 (three) major issues mentioned above. Here are the proposed strategy for downtown revitalization, includes imrovement in these aspect below: 1 ) Urban area circulation system Urban area circulation system, affect the intensity of a visitor around the downtown area. Improvements will be focused on: building linkage and buiding welcoming area. A good quality of downtown’s connectivity could invites more citizen to come and visit the downtown area. 2 ) Physical Urban Form Physical urban form, effect on the visual appeal and the character of urban space. Improvements will be focused on: the quality of building space and the downtown urban fasade. A high quality of physical urban form could improve the attractiveness and invites more activities take place in the downtown area. 3 ) Variety of Downtown’s Facilities Wide variety of facilities, effect on the downtown function as a life style center to fulfill the needs of its citizen. Improvements will be focused on: the availability of varied facilities and and availability of public space/ public facilities.
