Geographically, the research area is located at 6o30’00” S–6o33’00” S and 107o6’00” E–107o11’00” E. The research area is 52 km2. Geomorphologically, the research area can be divided into six geomorphological units, Cikutamahi Lava Mountains Unit, Cibojonggede Denudational Plain Unit, Cibatutiga Folding Hills Unit, Cimeong Folding Hills Unit, and Cariu Aluvial Plain Unit. The research area is in Young-Mature Geomorphic stage. Stratigraphically, the research area can be divided into five non-formal rock units which were formed during Middle Miocene–Recent, deposited in open shallow marine to fluvial environment. The sequence from older to younger strata are Limestone Unit, Claystone Unit, Andesite Lava Unit, Pyroclastic Breccia Unit, and Alluvial Deposit Unit. Geological structure in the research area are faults and folds with east–west direction. The allowable bearing capacity value of shallow foundation at 1–1,5 m depth at TPB-1 is 36,96 ton/m2, TPB-2 is 23,8 ton/m2, and TPB-3 is 17,28 ton/m2. Factors that affect the bearing capacity are angle of internal friction, cohesion, and mineralogy. Angle of internal friction and cohesion whose value is affected by grain size have a positive correlation with bearing capacity. While the high soil activity will makes the bearing capacity value become lower because it has active clay minerals. Bearing capacity of the research area is in the low category and the rocks has swelling potential, so geological engineering is needed to prevent dam damage especially on the foundation. text
