Summary:Each ethnic group has variety unique characters in creating patterns for its own architecture. Researches regarding the traditional ornament specifically in Aceh, is still very limited. In Aceh Besar Regency, until today there can be found Acehnese traditional house which is loaded with ornaments. This research is aiming to identify the ornamental characters that appeared in Acehnese traditional houses located in Lubuk Sukon and Lubuk gapuy village as a case study, which analyzes the physical and visual characters that is found on the traditional house building structure. Component analysis of the outer building is focused on the typology of Acehnese vernacular building’s façade which is derived by the three typologies category by Rafael Moneo (1978) which includes structure analysis, expression, and function. Through the panels categorization from the outer building exterior, there can be found eight elements to comprise ornaments, which are theuep gaseue (bargeboard), tulak angen (tolak angin), bara (papan bara), pinto (door), binteih (wall), peulangan, kindang, dan rinyeun (stairs).
