Traditional architecture is one of the products of the culture of a region. Attempts to preserve traditional architecture often only focus on shape alone or are visible to the human eye. This is what makes many of new architectural forms that takes the form of traditional architecture directly without going through the process of further exploration. It need an effort to bring the traditional architecture in the present context. Transformation is one way to achieve that goal because through the transformation of the possibilities to be able to present creative new ideas very much. This thesis contains architectural design ideas using semiotics approach as a method that bridges the process of transformation of the traditional architecture of aceh. The purpose of this thesis was to gain experience about the architectural design process by using a semiotic approach in order to present an architectural designs that represent the culture of a region, in this case to present the traditional architecture of aceh in the present context. In the process will be carried out stage decoding to the traditional architecture of aceh which will then be followed by the creation or encoding from the previous decomposition to obtain new architectural form. Creativity and experience of the architect has an important role in the transformation process by using a semiotic approach to create an innovative architectural design. The process of the double meaning of the results of the architectural design that uses a semiotic approach can not be avoided because of the background and knowledge of the people who saw the architectural work.
