Summary: | Abstract. A case study is about a tourist destination and information hub area in Musi Riverside, Palembang, and capital city of South Sumatera. The Musi riverside has been historically known for its waterfront area and one of the local ports for water-based transportation. Having such potential advantage, to tackle existing social and urban issues such as traffic congestion, sprawling of slump area, and under-developed district. This site has potential pedestrian movement so that, the design is proposed to facilitate pedestrian movement by planning tourism facility, public facility and hub facility based on movement circulation of local pedestrians and tourist pedestrians. Tourist Destination & Information Hub as one stop information centre to inform about tourism attraction in Musi Riverside (BKB district, SMB Museum, Monpera, 16 Ilir Market). The goal study is to develop strategy of design based on pedestrian movement in urban context through generative modelling approach. Generative modelling is one of method phase to explore pedestrian movement based on parameter inputs and iteration of experimental proccess, in addition the result could be intrepreted collaboration by designer and computer. This method is used as design strategy of Tourist Destination & Information Hub in urban context based on pedestrian movement. This generative modelling phase consist of three puposed phase, they are a) first phase, mapping of trail pedestrian movement to identify accesibilty and density level in site existing (tool: agent based modelling), b) second phase, identify the alternative configuration space based on simulation to explore accesibility optimation, space configuration and space integration for pedestrian movement (tools: space syntax modelling), c) development phase, it represents a group of activities zones and pedestrian path (tools: voronoi diagram). The result of this study is bounded by ground floor only which experimental proccess to identify prediction and asumption of the design result, in additon this study could be new method in architectural design based on computational approach and designer can role as decision maker and computer as tools for designer to help them in architectural design proccess. |
