Description
Summary:Indonesia is located between two tectonic plates Australia and Asia, making Indonesia as a country prone to earthquakes. Traditional Indonesian home largely shaped stage house using wood materials. Indonesia is a country abundant of timber. So it can be used on an ongoing basis and can be obtained easily by replant the timber. The building is made of light wood and can deform when the earthquake occurred, the deformation allowable limit. So it is believed to be earthquakeresistant buildings. It attracted the interest of researchers to study the behavior of the vernacular house structure in response to the earthquake forces. The study only took three Sundanese vernacular houses to be simulated, namely Kampung Mahmud home vernacular, vernacular houses and homes vernacular Panjalin Kampung Kampung Pulo. This is based on the geographical map is divided into three (3) zones division, namely northern, central and southern West Java that all three have different height from the sea level. This study tried to use digital simulation methods to model the deformation behavior of the structure of the stem on the portal home Sunda vernacular. Sunda taken vernacular house is a house in Kampung Pulo, Kampung Mahmud and custom home Panjalin. This research also aims to understand the local wisdom as well know the weaknesses and strengths in house construction Sundanese vernacular. The results of the simulations show that the framework structure of the vernacular houses Kampung Mahmud deformed most when given earthquake load. From the results, the material of the structure of the vernacular houses Kampung Mahmud derived from wood sengon. Sengon has the power of V-IV class should not be used to frame structure. When used for the structure, then it should be given retrofitting, or given innovation, for example made of laminated wood with a combination of wood more powerful. The results of this study are expected to broaden knowledge about the deformation behavior of the stem structure vernacular houses in West Java.
