Patient will undergo a fixed and a routine schedule of dialysis for the rest of their
life, except that lucky to have a kidney transplant. Under these conditions the
likelihood of stress and depression in patients would be extremely large, the effect
is less good to the health of the patient's body .
In this thesis design research, the author will formulate a design criteria of
healing environment approach that can help patient reduce stress levels while
undergoing dialysis. According to healing environment experts, the healing here is
not a treatment to fix the problem, a treatment to eradicate the disease, or a
treatment to reduce the symptoms but rather to return the good feeling after
treatment. In here, healing means a comprehensive healing thoroughly to body,
mind, and soul. Therefore, it is not only a medication, but it is also the
environment that can make a very important contribution to the patient treatment.
With this motivation of study, the author will be using the healing environment
approach in conducting the research and will try to figure out what kind of healing
environment that is compatible to the hemodialysis unit. Furthermore, the research result is the design criteria that become the foundation for the author to design of
the hemodialysis unit. |
