Description
Summary:Water quality monitoring is one of methods that can control water quality degradation. The activity of society is a pollutant source. This condition and dynamically characteristic of river flow caused the quality fluctuation. This research explained water quality of Winongo River using the water standard according to government regulation number 82 (2001)with parameters used are Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), phospate, and nitrate. These data obtained from Environmental Agency of Yogyakarta from 2007 – 2013. Land use around the river from the headwaters to downstream are dominated with settlement, paddy, freshwater aquaculture, and shopping. This research also explained about two different index methods to know the Winongo River quality status. Those methods are Water Quality Index (WQI) and Pollution Index (IP). Parameters generally meet the water standard 3rd and 4th class which for, freshwater aquaculture, livestock, and watering plants. The results showed the water of Winongo river is in clean status at headwaters and lightly polluted form the middle until the downstream
