Summary: | Tsunami wave transmission simulated using assumption of four synthetic faultblocks
moving simultaneously in the south of Java Island to examine the tsunami height
distribution influenced by the bathymetry along with their trajectory courses toward the
shoreline. Tsunami wave transmission modeling was conducted using COMCOT v 1.7
with 1 hour time constraint.
The simulation shows that the tsunami heights in the area around peninsula, bay,
shoreline, and offshore with gentle bathymetry tend to be higher than surrounding areas
due to wave transformation processes from deeper bathymetry depths to shallower ones.
The simulation also shows that places like Pelabuhan Ratu and Sindangbarang, which have
steeper bathymetry compared to gentler Pangandaran Beach, would have developed their
tsunami height earlier.
It is expected that this simulation can become a reference to predict the tsunami
height and arrival time in other places which have similar bathymetric profile
characteristic. |
