There are several ways to analyze the effect of a decadal Kelvin wave to the thermocline depth variation such as determine the depth isotherm T=22oC, s-transform to observe the energy spectrum isotherm depth T=22oC, Hovm?ller diagram to visualize the SSHA, wavelet coherency to observe the coherence between SSHA and isotherm depth T=22oC, and the frequency-wavenumber 2D spectral analysis to identify the Kelvin wave propagation. Decadal Kelvin waves can be identified in the west coast of Sumatra and south coast of Java at a speed of propagation of 1.029x10-3 m/s (1974 to 1976) and 0.21 m/s (1985-1986) and has a period of 7.25 years based on the results of the dispersive diagram of temperature and SSHA. The highly correlation between the SSHA and the isotherm depth T=22oC was indicated with a confidence level of 95%. This is reinforced by the results of wavelet coherence showed coherence with a period of 7.25 years (dekadal) at any point between SSHA to 22oC isotherm depth that coincides with the incident Kelvin waves in waters west of Sumatra and southern Java. The isotherm depth T=22oC has the different value at A to H point and has a period of 8 and 11 years.. When the Kelvin wave propagate, the condition of midthermocline was decreased and SSHA was increased. text
