Description
Summary:PT X is one of large-scale food and beverage processing industry in Indonesia. PT X applies Ultra High Temperature (UHT) system in sterilization process. The UHT system requires steam that is obtained by boiling water in 4 boilers. Fuel combustion occurs in the boiling process and emits pollutant gases such as SO2 and NOx.Recently, PT X burns CNG as the boilers’ main fuel and diesel oil as the supplementary fuel by the ratio 1,11:1. The emission is emitted to the ambient without any air pollution controls since the steam production has never reached its maximum capacity, so the emission constantly meets the standards. In 2017 the water supply to the boiler is reduced, so the steam capacity is decreased as well. Fuel consumption and the emission is decreased as the decrease of steam capacity. The decrease of steam capacity will decrease the quality product. To meet the market demand and increase the competitiveness, PT X should increase the quality product by increasing the steam capacity. The increase of the steam capacity will increase the fuel consumption and the boiler emission. To keep the emission constantly meets the standards, air polltuion control system should be designed. The design of air pollution control should accommodate the emission from 100% CNG and 100% diesel oil combustion. The air pollution control system construction project is economically feasible since the NPV value is IDR313.120.908.445 that is larger than zero. The capital cost for the project is IDR11.500.000.000, the annual cost is IDR4.835.829.993, and the annual boiler divison’s income is IDR48.941.931.600.
