| Summary: | Understanding becomes a very fundamental aspect in mathematics. The ability of
teachers to help students to understand math is very cruscial. This study aims to
determine the students’ understanding of the logarithm properties of multiplication
and division of integers and the logarithm of exponential number. In this case students
who undestand them would not only know and memorize these properties, but also
would be likely to posses the ability to prove these properties. The real fact is that
students receive the properties as final properties. As a result, students’ understanding
of the properties is very low, as shown in the results of diagnostic tests. Therefore, the
writer is interested and desires to directly teach the subject by ascertaining the
properties. The results of the study indicate that the students are able to prove and
learn the subject which is designed by proof as a precise alternative to increase
understanding, skill to prove and positive outlook of student on mathematics. |
