The Mathematical Model of Theileriosis Disease Spread on Cattle with Control in Vector Haemaphysalis Longicornis

Theileriosis is a blood parasite disease in cattle caused by protozoa Theileria Orientalist with the main vector Haemaphysalis Longicornis. The disease attacks the red blood cells in cattle so that the cattle suffer anemic. Until now, there is no vaccine or medicine to cure theileriosis. One method...

The disease attacks the red blood cells in cattle so that the cattle suffer anemic. Until now, there is no vaccine or medicine to cure theileriosis. One method that can be done in the prevention of the disease spread is to control H. Longicornis ticks. The mathematical model of theileriosis disease with the control in Haemaphysalis Longicornis ticks using acaricide is studied in this thesis. The model is represented in 19-dimentional host-vector system. The host population is divided into three compartments namely susceptible host , exposed host , and infected host . The vector population is divided into sixteen compartments involving all phases of life on the vector. In the model, there are three equilibrium points, namely disease-free point with extinct vector, disease-free point with not extinct vector, and endemic point. The threshold parameters, and stability of each equilibrium point are also shown. At the end, numerical simulation are shown to illustrate the population dynamics and the effects of control parameters on the equilibrium point. From the results of simulation, it is shown that the control on ticks not attached is more effective in suppressing the population of infected cattle and ticks. text
