Application of RVSM (reduced vertical separation minimum) is one of the solution to overcome the density of air traffic. The Directorate of Aviation Navigation, the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia has informed Garuda Indonesia to use ADS-B on all aircraft flying above the height of FL290 in August 2018. ADS-B's use is intended to assist Air Traffic Service (ATS) in observing Indonesia air traffic separation. Garuda Indonesia currently has 18 CRJ-1000 fleets but only 3 fleets that are equipped with ADS-B. Aircraft that are unequiped with ADS-B is not allowed to fly beyond the height of FL290. Therefore, one of the advantages of installing ADS-B is in terms of lowering fuel costs because the aircraft can fly at its optimum height. Research begins with determining the airport hub used by Garuda Indonesia as a place for CRJ-1000 aircraft to take shelter every day. After knowing the hub of each registration, the research continued by mapping all sets of routes that function to check the altitude of all flying routes. Each set of routes has at least 2 routes flying at or above the height of FL290. The analysis shows that CRJ-1000 hub airports are located in CGK, SUB, MDC, KNO, and UPG. Aside of that, it needs 14 aircraft that need to be installed ADS-B to serve daily flying routes. The investment feasibility analysis is conducted to give consideration to Garuda Indonesia whether the ADS-B investment is financially feasible or not. ADS-B investment on CRJ-1000 aircraft is considered beneficial to Garuda Indonesia because the NPV is obtained for $ 10,589,823 and the IRR percentage is 85%. Investment’s Payback period is considered very short in time which is around 1 year and 3 month. text |
