ANALYSIS OF SEASONAL EFFECT ON THE OCCURRENCE OF UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS IN BANDUNG 2012-2013 (Case Study of Nasopharyngitis)

On this final assignment we had discussed the effect of season to the rate of upper repiratory tract infections in Bandung 2012-2013 with a case study of nasopharyngitis. Nasopharyngitis was included among 10 major diseases in the Health Centers, based on Public Health Agency of Bandung City 2011-20...

Nasopharyngitis was included among 10 major diseases in the Health Centers, based on Public Health Agency of Bandung City 2011-2012. The daily weather classification methods was used to see the types of weather that had significant impact to nasopharyngitis and Dasarian method was also used to see the effects of season to the rate of infections. The data that was used on this research is daily weather data that was obtained from BMKG Bandung. There are several variable on this data, which are, temperature, dew point temperature, wind speed, cloud cover, daily rainfall, and also infections data from Public Health Service of Bandung City. We have a result that shows that nasopharingitis on dry season happen when the cloud cover is between 5/8-6/8, low (e ? 22,4 hPa) until high (e > 23,9 hPa) daily average humidity, with a maximum (< 30? C) and minimum (? 20? C) of temperature, with daily wind speed average ? 10 km/hour, and also there is a rain happening (daily rain intensity average of < 50 mm). The increase in wet season happen when the cloud cover is between > 6/8, moderate average humidity (e = 22,4-23,9 hPa), with a maximum (> 30? C) and minimum (? 20? C) of temperature; or with a maximum (< 30? C) and minimum (> 20? C) of temperature, with daily wind speed average ? 10 km/hour, and also there is a rain happening (daily rain intensity average not always above 50 mm). text
