Summary: | Generally, coal mines are far away from the main road even in the middle of forest. To overcome this problem, required conveyance device to move coal from the loading station to the unloading station with least possible cost. Rail-conveyor as new conveyance device can reduce the costs that incurred by the coal mine enterpreneur. One of the sub-systems of the rail-conveyor is drive station that purpose to drive wagon is placed at several locations along the rail-track conveyor. In this bachelor assignment, designing the drive station is done by selecting an design alternative of some other alternatives in the basic design, to be developed based on the design requirements and objectives regarding the need traction with 74 kW nominal power and component selection are easily available in the market. The result of the drive station design are solid modelling using Autodesk Inventor 2015 software, analysis using finite element method by ANSYS 16.0 software and material take off. Traction that needed to get the appropriate carriage speed is equal to 3,7 kN. The total dimensions of the drive station that are design namely 2.150 mm x 956 mm x 1.350 mm and total weight is 1.142 kg. The safety factor of the main frame structure by using the finite element method which is 1,23 with a maximum stress 198,61 MPa still below the yield strength of the material. Total deflection that occured are 1,37 mm. The design also fulfills maintainability, manufacturing, and assembling aspects. |
