Summary:The existence of traditional markets in Indonesia is not only on economic issues, it also the space and social relations issues even more broadly, it have a role in the social and culture changes of a community. Social capital is one of the factors assumed to maintain traditional market presence in the onslaught of today's modern market. This social capital is not only able to grow naturally but it can be engineered by the government. Therefore, role of government is required to do social engineering in order to foster social capital and the traditional markets promotion. In this research, the method used is a qualitative research method with phenomenological perspective. Data collection methods are observation, deep interview, documentation, and literature study. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis, DPSIR analysis and correlation matrix analysis. The results showed that social capital condition and Bambu Kuning Market conditions are still well preserved. The social capital contribution on traditional markets demonstrated through the correlation matrix between social capital indicators and traditional markets existence indicators. Other than that, social change relevance to the traditional markets advancement also analyzed by the correlation matrix of social change indicators and traditional market existence indicators as well as the analysis of social change in traditional markets.
