Summary: | The Indonesian government has built a traffic monitoring system such as National
Traffic Management Center (NTMC), Bandung Command Center (BCC), and
Jasamarga Live for traffic management, but has not been effective. In the BCC
traffic monitoring system, conclusions regarding the events that occurred on CCTV
videos, are still obtained from manual interpretations by humans. The number of
CCTVs that reached 728 cameras, he number of employees who were only 28, and
the obligation to monitor 24 hours caused supervision to not be carried out
thoroughly and enable the presence of CCTV points that were not monitored
properly.
To improve the effectiveness of BCC traffic monitoring system, an automated
traffic monitoring system can be created. An automated traffic monitoring system
can utilize image processing to detect vehicles on CCTV videos. The automatic
traffic monitoring system has been developed by Hendrawan and Tobing (2014)
and implemented in a monolithic form.
The monolithic approach to the BCC automatic monitoring system is not really
suitable. Automatic monitoring systems for BCC need large resources to process
728 cameras, monolithic approach has low scalability, this will cause waste of
resources. In addition, the automatic monitoring system for BCC also needs to be
used for 24 hours, monolithic approach has low resistance, this will cause the
system to be vulnerable to failure so the system cannot be used for 24 hours. The
solution to the problem of scalability and resilience in monolithic architecture is
microservice architecture. This final project has proven that microservices-based
automated traffic monitoring systems has higher scalability and resiliency than
monolithic. |
