INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/33799 In manufacturing industry, the rivalry between companies is to compete in maintaining or increasing the quality of their product to meet customer’s demand. Statistical quality control is a tool used to ensure the quality of a product is maintained. Nowadays, there are some product quality characteristic with only two outcomes, those are conforming and nonconforming. This kind of quality characteristic is called attribute. One of the methods used to maintain product quality is control chart. This final project will discuss about ?-Chart, an attribute control chart based on the proportion of nonconforming samples. To obtain the proportion of nonconforming samples, a suitable sampling technique is needed. This final project will also compare between simple random sampling (SRS) technique and maxima nominated sampling (MNS) technique, by using two control limit values, that is 3? and 6?. The MNS technique ranked the data from the smallest amount of nonconforming products to the biggest. Then the biggest amount of nonconforming products will be observed further for constructing the ?-Chart. The data that is used in this final project is a secondary data on the production of Boom PC130 F-7 from PT. Komatsu Indonesia. Some constraints are made to adjust the data so that it can be treated using ?-Chart. The data processing shows that: MNS technique is more effective compared to SRS technique because the technique only observed the maximum proportion of nonconforming samples from each of the sampling subgroup, the MNS ?-Chart is more sensitive in detecting the proportion of nonconforming samples outside the control limit compared to SRS ?-Chart, and the higher the control limit value, the higher the level of production tolerance against the products. text |

In manufacturing industry, the rivalry between companies is to compete in
maintaining or increasing the quality of their product to meet customer’s demand.
Statistical quality control is a tool used to ensure the quality of a product is
maintained. Nowadays, there are some product quality characteristic with only
two outcomes, those are conforming and nonconforming. This kind of quality
characteristic is called attribute. One of the methods used to maintain product
quality is control chart. This final project will discuss about ?-Chart, an attribute
control chart based on the proportion of nonconforming samples. To obtain the
proportion of nonconforming samples, a suitable sampling technique is needed.
This final project will also compare between simple random sampling (SRS)
technique and maxima nominated sampling (MNS) technique, by using two
control limit values, that is 3? and 6?. The MNS technique ranked the data from
the smallest amount of nonconforming products to the biggest. Then the biggest
amount of nonconforming products will be observed further for constructing the
?-Chart. The data that is used in this final project is a secondary data on the
production of Boom PC130 F-7 from PT. Komatsu Indonesia. Some constraints
are made to adjust the data so that it can be treated using ?-Chart. The data
processing shows that: MNS technique is more effective compared to SRS
technique because the technique only observed the maximum proportion of
nonconforming samples from each of the sampling subgroup, the MNS ?-Chart is
more sensitive in detecting the proportion of nonconforming samples outside the
control limit compared to SRS ?-Chart, and the higher the control limit value, the
higher the level of production tolerance against the products. |
