Biometric is a method to identify the characteristic of human. Every human in the world are different (unique) although maybe some of them have similarity. Every part of human body can be identity of the human itself, for examples, face structure, fingerprints, DNA, voice, behavior, odor smells, etc. Fingerprint is biometric identity that use for general purpose because it’s easy to perform. We can claim that every each fingerprint are different from one human to another, so there will be no two individuals have the same fingerprint pattern. However, to identify the owner of the fingerprint, it has a probability the device makes mistakes to identify the owner, especially in large scope. Few factors that make error mistake from identifying the fingerprints are dirty fingerprints, injury on fingers, device errors, or unclear images. Therefore, in this final project is to enhance the image quality of fingerprints and do minutiae extraction so to ease the fingerprints data input. The method in this final project use the Gabor Filter method to enhance the image quality of the fingerprint and Crossing-Number concept for minutiae extraction.
