The genus of this widely distributes in tropics and subtropics, including Indonesia. In general, the genus of herbs can be used in traditional medicines for improving stamina in daily activities, antimalarial and also can be used to increase male sexual vitality (aprodisiak). The results of the investigation towards the genus literature Drimys show that the content of a main secondary metabolite found in this genus is terpenoid. The secondary metabolite found in the genus has the various advantages such as antiinflamasi, antiulcer, antialergi and as an analgesic. In addition, metabolite terpenoid is found in the compound, it is also found another secondary flavonoid, an alkaloid, saponin and tannin. The genus Drimys can be found in the eastern indonesia, precisely in Arfak mountain, Papua. Some previous studies have reported the results of research to the genus Drimys, but in general, the study is still in the form of an rough extract. In Indonesia, there are four species of this genus include D. Piperita, D. beccariana, and D. arfakensis Winterii. However, the study on Drimys arfakensis has not been reported, so the study on this species needs to be done. Therefore, this study aimed to isolate and identify secondary metabolites contained in Drimys arfakensis especially the bark. Isolation of secondary metabolites is done with a series of separation methods include maceration with acetone, then the acetone fraction is separated and purified using various chromatographic techniques such as vacuum liquid chromatography (KCV) and radial chromatography (KR). In this study, four pure compounds have been isolated and four of them have been characterized by NMR spectroscopy 1D and 2D (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HSQC, HMBC and NOESY). Of the four compounds are three classes seskuiterpen are assumed as a new compound . text |
