Cobalt and nickel have a high economic value and these metals have similar physico-chemical properties. It is impossible to separate the cobalt(II)-nickel(II) pair by using simple and economical way such as well-established separation processes. Laterite mineral rocks were crushed by a mill until it becomes a fine powder mineral laterite. Furthermore laterite mineral powder samples were tested by XRF method to determine levels of metal elements in it. Cobalt and nickel separation process was done after the process of leaching used sulfuric acid (H2SO4) 6 M. The determination of the optimum conditions in the process of separation of cobalt and nickel with Tubular Supported Liquid Membrane techniques (TSLM) used tri-n-octylamine (TOA) as the carrier was done with used simulation solution with a concentration of ions Co(II) and Ni(II), each of 300 ppm. The optimum conditions were then applied to separate the two metals from other metals in the sample solution laterite. Optimation mineral separation processes Co(II) and Ni(II) with TSLM performed by varying various parameters include the pH of the feed solution, the carrier concentration (TOA), the concentration of ammonia solution, and the concentration in the feed solution NH4SCN. The optimum conditions obtained were evaluated based on the value of the separation factor (? = % extraction of Co(II) / % extraction of Ni(II)), in this study were obtained on feed phase pH = 4.0, the carrier concentration Alamin300 (TOA) = 0.7 %(v/v), receiver phase concentration (NH3) = 0.9 M, and the concentration of the complexing reagent (NH4SCN) = 0.5 M. The concentration of cobalt and nickel ion was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Application of the optimum conditions on the results of the sample solution contain ion concentration Ni(II) and Co(II) respectively 400 mg/L and 40 mg/L with a time separation for 90 minutes obtaine the separation factor (?) by 2.51. text
