The standard method for measuring TSP is using active methods with a High Volume Sampler (HVS) equipped with filters to capture particles as well as using gravimetric analytical methods. TSP measurement is performed in 24 hours based on the 1999 Government Regulation Number 41 about Air Pollution Control. The current problem of the sampling process is that the measurement of TSP is only done for several hours, for one to two hours to be exact. Then the results of the measurement are compared to 24-hour concentration although the samples collected are not representative. 24-hour sampling is seldom done because of the resources needed, either by limited equipment or by human resources that require a high cost. The measurement of TSP could be performed in background concentration area, industrial area, the neighbourhood, and roadside area. This research focuses on the roadside area of Jl. Ir. H. Djuanda, Dago, Bandung. The main purpose of this study will answer the problem before, which is to obtain a practical method for predicting the ambient 24-hour concentration of TSP in the roadside area, without conducting 24-hour measurements. The observation is done for only several hours, yet the result will be converted to the 24-hour concentration. This method could save operational cost significantly but the accuracy should always be checked first. text
