Summary: | Electronic waste (E-waste) is waste from electronic equipment which has been damaged, used, and unused by their owners. In Indonesia, E-waste is used as business opportunity such as recycling material. One of the E-waste recycling places in Indonesia is located in Astana Anyar District Bandung where the aim of recycling is to take metals that have economic value such as gold, silver, copper and other valuable metals. One of the techniques used in this process is by burning. The electronic waste which containing heavy metals burned, it can caused air pollution. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the concentration of respirable particulate matter in area of E-waste recycler, and to determine the source of particulate pollutants so that this problem could be solve a in the future. The number of respondents in this study as many as 30 people were divided into two groups of respondents such as sample group with distance < 300 meters from the area of E-waste recyclers and sample group with distance > 300 meters from the area of E-waste recyclers with age range 10-14 years. Respirable particulate was measured using personal sampler pump and metals concentration in respired particulate measured by XRF method. Based on research, it is known that the average concentration of respirable particulate matter the overall in Astana Anyar District has average value of particulate concentration such as 0.158 ± 0.122 mg / m3. The elements of contaminants in particulate respirable in all sample groups are dominated by the elements Ca, Si, Al, and Fe with average concentration for the overall respondents are 2.895 ± 1.405 mg / m3, 1.372 ± 1.148 mg / m3, 1.319 ± 0.522 mg / m3, and 1.136 ± 0.829 mg / m3 respectively. The elements Ca, Si, Al, and Fe are elements that come from soil and road dust, besides found Zn and Pb also in both groups of respondents with average concentration for the overall sample are 0.273 ± 0.136 mg / m3 and 0.151 ± 0.073 mg / m3 respectively. According to the methods of factor analysis, Zn and Pb are elements that come from the process of recycling E-waste. |
