Summary: | Vehicles such as motorcycles and cars are increasing every year. The increase in the number of vehicles is not proportional with infrastructure growth, such as highways. This resulted in congestion in urban areas. Public transport, such as metro capsule, is one of possible solutions to the problem. Metro Capsule suitable for densely building because run on elevated path. PT Teknik Rekayasa Kereta is an Indonesian company that develops capsule trains. In order for this train to be able to operate in Indonesia, there are tests that need to be conducted, including structural strength test. This project focus on determining the safety level of the upper part of metro capsule structure based on Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. 175 of 2015 and Japanese Industrial Standards E7105. This project using finite element methode with shell element. The analysis results show that the maximum stress on the body frame, base frame, and modified basket respectively are 195.56 Mpa, 363.64 MPa, and 176.62 MPa. These stresses are lower than the material’s allowable stress. Thus, the structure of the metro capsule is declared as safe.
