Description
Summary:West Natuna is one of the basins that located in the western Indonesia which has quite big oil and gas potential. Barakuda is one of the blocks that has not been producing in the basin which is directly adjacent to the Malay Basin in the northwest, Conson Basin in the northeast, and Penyu Basin in the southwest. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the hydrocarbon prospects in Block Barakuda, especially in the interval A, B, C, which are part of the Lower Gabus Formation. In this study were used some data, such as well log data, cuttings, geochemistry, biostratigraphy, and 2-D seismic. The method used in this study are petrophysical analysis, well-seismic tie, 2-D seismic interpretation, electrofacies analysis, Montecarlo simulation was uses to calculate the hydrocarbon resources in the intervals, and risk assessment. Based on the analysis that has been conducted to the depth structure map at each interval of the study, there are 7 closures areas consist of 3 hydrocarbon prospects and 4 leads that need to be evaluated further. That evaluation includes petroleum system analysis and hydrocarbon resources calculation. Based on the results of that calculation through Montecarlo simulation, it is known that the total of hydrocarbon resources in the research intervals without considering the risk factor is 10.092,68 MMSTB. While, the total of hydrocarbon resources by considering the risk factor is 838,53 MMSTB. The prospects rating in the study area from the highest to the lowest are prospect 1, prospect 4, prospect 5. While, the leads rating from the highest to the lowest are lead 6, lead 2, lead 3, and lead 7.
