Description
Summary:The research area is located in the northern coast of Dili, Timor Leste, which is geographically settled within the latitude of 8°28'30''-8°30'30'' S and the longitude of 125°54'30''-125°58'30'' E. The aim of this research is to determine the metamorphism degree, characteristics of mineral chemistry, pressure, and temperature of Aileu Formation using the metabasite rocks that come in contact with peridotite rock. The methods of this research include the thin section observation and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)-EDS (Energy-Dispersive Spectrometer) examination for mineral chemistry and observation. anorthite in amphibolite-granulite transition fasies. Hornblende with the type of ferro-pargasit on sekishijau until feroan pargasitik hornblende in amphibolite - facies transition granulit and mineral klinopiroksen with type augit and diopsid The petrographic observation concludes that the metamorphism degree of metabasit rises toward the contact with peridotite Rock characterized by facies sekishijau consisting of minerals actinolite, chlorite, epidote, and plagioclase; facies amphibolite with the set mineral hornblende, plagioclase, and sfen; transition facies amphibolite-granulit with the set klinopiroksen minerals, garnet, hornblende, and plagioclase. The mineral chemistry of plagioclase shows that An composition increases from albit in greenschist facies into The melt in the peak of metamorphism degree are shown by plagioclase dihedral’s angle, which is less than 45 degrees. Furthermore, the melt difference in plagioclase minerals’ composition: plagioclase commonly has anorthite type, while dissolve plagioclase has oligoclase type (cuspate). From calcic-amphibole and petrogenetic grid diagram, resulting in the pressure of 1-1.5 GPa and temperature of 700-760?C.
