The author designed and made a rotary viscometer by applying knowledge and skills that have been obtained. Viscometer is a measurement instrument used to measure how viscous the fluid is. The viscosity or fluid viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid to deform. Rotary viscometer is chosen based on the evaluation by the Pugh method which showed the rotary method had the highest weighted score compared to other type of viscometers. The purpose of this final project is to determine the appropriate design to make a prototype of props for fluid viscosity’s practical course. Two major design changes were done in the process of making this rotary viscometer, namely the first modification and the final design. Design changes that occured was due to the desire to produce good design for the prototype. The manufacture of the rotary viscometer prototype was done through machining process of the mechanical components and circuit installation in electric system. It is expected that the testing process of this viscometer’s prototype can be used to optimize the prototype that has been made. text |
