Description
Summary:Rice (Oryza sativa) is the staple food of the people in Indonesia. Maintaining the quality of rice is important. In the analysis of rice quality, rice samples can be compared with a material that has similar properties, called reference material. Reference material is a material that has stable and homogeneous properties to be used in calibration equipment, testing a method of analysis, and the determination of sample. Reference material is needed in the analysis of sample, but reference materials are quite rare and expensive. This research aims to study the candidate of reference material for the determination of the metals Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Cu, and Pb in rice. Analysis of moisture and ash content using gravimetric method. Validation methods include linearity, homogenity testing, stability testing, detection limit, quantitation limit, precision, and accuracy. 10 samples of rice are analysed, obtained water content of (12.560 ± 0.003)% and ash content of (0.3800 ± 0.0019)%. Atomic abrosption spectrophotomery is used for determination of metal content by destructing ash samples using strong acid. In 5 samples of rice, the content of metal ions Ca2+ (3.7906 ± 0.2616) ppm, Pb2+ (1.5390 ± 0.1795) ppm, Cu2+ (0.4123 ± 0.0609) ppm, Zn2+ (1, 8025 ± 0.0452) ppm, Mg2+ (28.6737 ± 3.6751) ppm, and Fe3+ (53.9032 ± 5.0156) ppm.
