Corrosion is a destruction attack of metal due to chemical and electrochemical reactions. Addition of organic corrosion inhibitor can reduce and control the corrosion process. Organic inhibitor is an organic compound which has electron lone pair such as N and O. This study assessed the effect of organic inhibitor of D-glucose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone and D-fructose-2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazone. D-glucose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone and D-fructose-2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazone have been synthesized by reacting 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine with D-glucose and D-fructose. The structure of synthesized compounds was validated by IR, LC- MS and 1H-NMR. D-glucose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone has peak of (C=N) vibration at ? = 1591 cm-1 (of FTIR spectra) and m/z = 361.2762 g/mol (of mass-spectroscopy spectra). D- fructose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone also has peak of vibration (C=N) at ? = 1579 cm-1 (of FTIR spectra) and m/z = 36.3031 g/mol (of mass-spectroscopy spectra). EIS measurements showed that D-glucose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone has maximum percentage inhibition efficiency at 20 ppm (30oC) of 18.4% and D-fructose-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone has maximum percentage inhibition efficiency at 40 ppm (30oC) of 37.5%. text |
