Therefore, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technique is implemented to obtain secondary oil from the reservoir. Injecting high-sufficient-viscosity polymer solution into the reservoir can push the secondary oil to enter the production well. This experiment use d cellulose derivates which applied to the EOR technique. With ammonium persulfate and sodium sulfite as initiator, hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) was graft-copolymerized towards acrylamide (AM) with various mass ratio (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 ) at the optimum temperatur e of 55°C for 8 hours. The optimum results were produced at mass ratio of HEC:AM equal to 1:3 (1.0009 g HEC : 3.0019 g AM ) with grafting percentage about 86.79%. The resulting copolymer was characterized by using FTIR spectrophotometer while its rheological characteristic was determined by using Fann VG viscometer. The rheological data indicated that the viscosity of HEC-g-AM copolymer at 7500 ppm was in the same range as Hybo® ‘s viscosity value at 500 ppm-1000 ppm . The effects of various parameters suc h as rotation frequency, temperature and salinity have also been studied. The results showed that the HEC-AM graft copolymer required higher-concentration to reach similar viscosity of the commercial polymer. Nevertheless, HEC - AM copolymer showed sufficient stability towards both mechanically and thermally degradation. The copolymer also perform ed a good salinity resistance compared to the existing commercial polymers. text |
