Summary:Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the freshwater fishery commodities with high economic value. Several obstacles attribute to the production of this commodity. One of them is the high price of commercial feed, which account up to 60-70% of the total production cost. This high price is caused by the increase of fish meal price, which is the main source for the diet’s protein. Based on that condition, an effort for the development of diets need to be conducted using protein from raw local material that is easy to get and suitable nutritional ingredients to replace the fish meal. One of the alternative protein source that potentially be used in artificial diets formula is Lemna minor because of its protein content (25% - 45%), carbohydrate (14,1 - 43,6%), fat (4,4 %), and fiber (8 – 10 %). This study was aim to develop an artificial feed based on Lemna minor for sangkuriang catfish culture. The experimental feed used for the trial were different level of Lemna minor inclusion: feed I (0%), feed II (15%), feed III (30%), feed IV (45%) and feed V (60%), and as a control the commercial feed was used, the diets were administered two times a day with amount of 10% of total catfish body weight. Experimental diets were tested in the culture filled with 26 days old catfish with average initial weight 0,558±0,012 g and average of body length 3,65±0,027 cm, the catfish were cultured in 60 liters cylindrical tanks with stocking density 50 individuals/tank during 30 days period of culture and the experiment were conducted by using three replicate and repeated by times in a recirculation system. Several parameters including growth rate, feed efficiency, survival rate, and water quality (DO, pH, temperature, ammonium, nitrite, and density of microbe) were measured. Based on the result, the highest growth rate obtained on commercial diet (3,52±0,28)%, followed by artificial diet IV (2,91±0,55)%, artificial diet V (2,76±0,52)%, artificial diet III (2,32±0,62)%, artificial diet I (2,21±0,51)%, and artificial diet II (1,83±0,39%). The food conversion ratio obtained in the culture fed on commercial diets, experimental diets IV, V, I, III and II were (2,24 : 1), (3,38 : 1), (3,46 : 1), (4,71 : 1), (4,72 : 1), and (6,11 : 1). Survival rate respectively measured from each treatment were 78,33±13,47% (commercial diet), 58,67±4,68% (diet IV), 54,67±7,55% (diet V), 48,00±11,8% (diet III), 42,33±10,56% (diet II), and 37,33±10,56% (diet I). Usage of recirculation system in the culture could maintain the water quality during culture and all physical and chemical parameters in all treatment were still in the range of by Sangkuriang catfish. Based on this research, the economic analysis of combination 50% diet IV with 50% commercial diet could reduce the expense of feed about Rp.2.041.200,- / year during fingerling catfish product at pond of 1.000m2 and stocking density of 200/m2.
