One kind of alternative energy which is abundant but not yet widely used is the sunlight energy. Dye sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) converts sunlight into electrical energy. Natural dyes can be used as a sensitizer of DSSC. Type of dye determines the efficiency and performance of solar cells are made. This study is started with the extraction of dye from red carnations and purple sweet potato. Carnations dye extraction by Soxhlet method produces red extract (?maks = 527 nm), using water as solvent. Meanwhile, sweet purple potato produces purple-oranye (? = 527 and 489 nm). The result of is in the absoprtion spectrum is in the range of sunlight’s absorption wavelengths (? = 380-780 nm). The second parts of this research was looking for the optimal composition of the reagent of synthesis of zeolite L and study of zeolite L potential as dye’s trapper. First, zeolite L is synthesized referring to the comparison of the composition (in mole) Al2O3:SiO2:K2O:H2O = 1,7:20:10,9:1030, with Al2(SO4)3.18H2O as source of Al2O3 and KOH as source of K2O. The results showed variation in crystal’s morphology and crystallinity with different composition ratio and the replacement of SiO2 with silica water glass. But, white powder products were resulted for all composisition that show uniformity. Adsorption test between zeolite L and dye indicated the interactions between zeolite L and dye molecules that cause discoloration of carnation extract. text
