| Summary: | Economics and industry growth in global market today apparently create free
competition. Besides it cause increase of production, it also cause increase of the
amount of wastewater. PT. X as one of tinplate industry in Indonesia realized how
important to maintain his effluent could not pollute the environment and keep the
prevailing government regulation or law. Thus, wastewater needs to be treating
specially before it comes into the sea.
The effluent which produces by PT. X typically contain heavy metals that used
in production process and also contain TSS, COD, and BOD in high concentration.
This things are originally from plating waste which still be a unsolved problem
because there is no special treatment for plating waste that separate from the others
wastewater.
The treatment is planned to treat plating waste with physic-chemical treatment,
because biological treatment not adequate with the wastewater characteristic. This
treatment more emphasize at using activated carbon to reduce Phenols, COD, Sn and
BOD, then using chemical presipitation (koagulation-floculation), neutralization, and
sludge treatment by using sludge drying bed. |
