These three materials are very closely connected with each other. For high school students, the difficulties in understanding the concepts are due to the ability to imagine Three Dimensional (3D) objects that have not been trained, motivation to read and the ability in understanding relationships among concepts that are still low. To overcome the problems, learning media based on Information & Communication Technology (ICT) has been developed, which use presentation software (eg Powerpoint and Camtasia), 3D view (eg VRML files), exercises that has the interactive feedback systems (eg using Hotpotatoes), and learning media development tools (such as Exelearning). Media that are and equipped with feedback systems (such as, among others, the exercises) in order to increase the absorption of learning materials. This learning media can improve the ability of students to imagine 3D structure of atoms and molecules so that they can understand concepts and principles of SASPIK better. The learning media is tested against chemistry teachers and students using a questionnaire to obtain feedback necessary to improve the media. The responses lead to the conclusion that this learning media can improve the understanding of atomic structure and chemical bonding. Whereas the periodic system is considered to be a topic to reach the same achievement as traditional classroom approach text |
