This formation consists of sandstone interbedded with shale and coal and was deposited in a fluvial delta area with a thickness ranging between 460-610 meters. The sandstone layers of Upper Talang Akar Formation in “MSA” field has a thickness below tuning thickness, so that it is difficult to be interpreted. Therefore, in this research, the author firstly have to find parameters which are sensitive to the distribution of sandstone in the target area. Extended Elastic Impedance method can make reflectivity volume of those sensitive parameters, so that can be applied for stochastic seismic inversion. The stochastic seismic inversion is a kind of inversions that generates more than one impedance model realizations. This inversion can resolve layers with a thickness below tuning thickness and also non-uniqueness problem. Those impedance model realizations can also generate a probability model at certain range impedance value of sensitive parameters for sand and gas-sand so that the distribution of both can be known. In this research, the result of integration between EEI method and stochastic seismic inversion can clearly show the distribution of sand and gas-sand even in a thin layer with only one well as input for inversion. text
