Modern wound dressing is used to replace the role of conventional wound dressing which is less effective in dealing with burns. Acemannan is used since it is a natural active substance that can provide antibacterial properties, increase moisture, and can stimulate the process of re-epithelialization of tissue in the skin. Acemannan is encapsulated in nanocellulose and chitosan to work optimally. In this study, the encapsulation of acemannan began with nanocellulose isolation, acemannan extraction, gel synthesis with acemannan encapsulation on nanocellulose-chitosan. Characterization of the material bonds using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry), material morphology with SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The gel was tested for antibacterial properties using Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria with the disk diffusion method, and testing against swelling degrees. The characterization results showed that nanocellulose from pineapple fibers and acemannan from Aloe vera was successfully extracted. Acemannan successfully encapsulated by nanocellulose and chitosan with a uniform sphere shape. In the swelling test showed that the addition of acemannan to the gel formulation affected the swelling degree of the gel. Increasing acemannan concentration added, the swelling degree of the gel increases. Antibacterial tests showed that the addition of acemannan to gel formulations affected the antibacterial properties of the gel. Increasing the concentration of acemannan added to the gel formulation, the antibacterial properties of the gel increase. From this study it was found that the gel formulation with the addition of 0.5% acemannan was the best formulation based on the degree of swelling and antibacterial properties. text
