Description
Summary:Carbon dioxide is a colorless, tasteless and non-toxic gas with specific concentration. This gas is usually dissolved in production of carbonated beverages to get fizzy taste. In this research, determination of dissolved carbon dioxide as carbonate has been developed based on gas diffusion flow injection analysis. According to the method, CO2 diffuses as result of reaction of carbonate with H2SO4 through PTFE membrane into bromthymol blue. It acts as acceptor stream. Due to that process, there is pH change and caused change of color. It can be measured by spectrophotometry method. Good analytical performance of this method has been shown by reproducibility of concentration 30 mgL-1 with precison value % (CV) 1,20 and concentration 120 mgL-1 with 2,46. The linearity of this method was shown in concentration range 60-300 mgL-1 with correlation value 0,99. The application of this method on carbonated beverages and water sample gives 97,01% and 96,06% recovery value.
